2009 UNC Tax Doctoral Seminar

The UNC Tax Center announces the inaugural UNC Tax Doctoral Seminar to be held January 5-9, 2009,

at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  The Seminar will be led by Professors Doug Shackelford

and Ed Maydew from UNC, John Graham from Duke, and Michelle Hanlon from Michigan.  They will invite

up to 10 first- or second-year students from PhD programs around the country.

The Seminar will expose students of all backgrounds to current tax research. It is targeted primarily for

non-tax students from doctoral programs without a tax PhD seminar.  No tax expertise is required. All students

will learn the fundamentals of tax research, and some may wind up adding tax to their set of research interests.

Through the generous support of KPMG, the UNC Tax Center will cover all student expenses

(e.g., housing and meals), except travel.

Inquiries should be directed to Professor Shackelford at doug_shack@unc.edu
