Research Interests:

Technology, Firm and Industry Evolution; Technology Strategy and Entrepreneurship; Innovation and Knowledge Management;

My research is in the area of innovation and entrepreneurship.  My dissertation is specifically on the role of "garage inventors" - inventors who independently own their technologies and are not associated with a firm, university, government, or other organization - and their transition to entrepreneurship.  The introduction to this is:

An enduring image in American culture is the heroic “garage inventor” turned entrepreneur (Audia and Rider, 2005; Klosowski, 2013). This dissertation studies the link between independent invention and the start of new technological firms. In doing so, it investigates the move from technological discovery to commercialization. While investigating the role of independent inventors in new firm formation, the research questions are: what characteristics drive and moderate the effects of technological development to new firm formation?
