The analytically demanding curriculum at Kenan-Flagler Business School focuses on business issues and problems, not functional areas. This integrated approach underscores today's business realities, in which effective decision making requires cross-functional knowledge and an entrepreneurial spirit of ownership. Within this framework, the Operations Department offers a set of core courses to provide students with the fundamental skills and tools that support a general management education and develops a set of core problem solving competencies that students can bring to their future careers. The Operations Department provides many of the courses in the Operations Management Concentration.
In addition, area faculty provide a variety of electives that enable interested students to deepen their skill-sets in particular areas. Please visit the MBA Program page of the Kenan-Flagler Business school web site for more information and to request application materials.
The PhD Program in Operations is designed for individuals who plan careers in research and teaching. The Program provides an exceptional student experience, combining both professional and personal growth. A limited number of students are admitted each year, resulting in a high-quality learning environment that emphasizes rigor and individual attention.
The PhD Program is a full-time, 12-month, four year course of study. The core education of the program is provided through a three course sequence which is designed to provide a survey of the research in the topical areas that constitute operations management. These core courses are supported with a variety of focused seminars tailored to the research interests of current students. We offer analytic and empirical tracks.
